I arrived in the plains just as the sun was coming up. The journey had been long and hard; I could only hope that it was worth it.
“Hey there,” I crane my neck all the way back. I still couldn’t see all the way to the top. I’m not short but 50 feet is no mean height. “What’s your name, I asked?”
I knew his name; I had come all the way here just to see him but he didn't have to know that.
“Adansonia”
“Ada-what” I knew it was a faux-pas reacting like that to one’s name but I couldn’t help it.
“A-d-a-n-s-o-n-i-a”
Okay let me give it another try; we don’t give up over here. “Adad-”
“Or you could just call me Baobab.”, he quickly chimed in.
“Oh great; that’s much better.”
“I don’t mean to be a bother but I have a few questions for you. I hope you don’t mind.”
“Shoot!”, Ada said.
I sat cross-legged under his shade and whipped out my notepad.
A sunset and a barrage of questions later, I knew without a doubt that Baobab was one in a million.
I’ll let you in on a secret: My voyage was imaginary. ( I told you technology makes dreams come true). It all happened in my bedroom; with my laptop open and about 6 tabs open in my browser.
I had tried researching on a few others but I kept coming back to the Baobab. It perfectly embodies everything Codetrain is about. There couldn’t be a better symbol to represent us.
Wondering what a tech brand has in common with a tree?
Find out next week Wednesday in our next blog post.
